There has been a pier or jetty in Cromer since 1391. The present one, dating from 1901, was finally built after the previous wooden structure had been dismantled after heavy storm damage many year earlier. The modern entrance to the pier has steps formed by long, sweeping curves complimented by straight lines in the paving.
