This is a world famous view over Whitby, taken from the 199 steps known as Church Stairs, that lead steeply, to St. Mary’s Church on the way to Whitby Abbey. You can even see the curvature of the earth when viewing the horizon. This image was taken on 18th March 2010 with a Nikon D90 fitted fitted with a Nikon VR 18-105 zoom lens at a focal length of 18mm.

The image size is 4058 x 2698px at 300dpi resolution.

At the side of these steps is Church Lane that is cobbled and the raised strips that were added to help animals and people find their footing are still in place. It is known locally as Donkey Lane.
